Well Dan ... I won't argue with you.  In fact the whole email system needs to be thrown away and started over again.  I suggest we require registered name servers much like a SSL cert.  To get one you must be responsible and not spam.  Two strikes and your registration is revoked. But this is the system we have to work with now.

Do you use any MAPS?  Frankly we have had great success with spamcop -- the group I had a bad experience with was spews.  We have had too many false-positives with key-words. Methodology and opinions aside we both hate the scurge of spam!

Well, I wasn't going to reply to this but it was "Calling my name".  I really think that this is just one more way for the Spammers to cost us money.  It is, in my humble opinion, just as blatantly enterprising as Bill Gates horrible proposal to Congress that all email servers use a certificate system (like SSL) to match signed certs in the sending mail system.  And guess who was offering to dish up that particular piece of technology!

Also, we have found SpamCop to be very high in the "False Positive" category and so totally obnoxious to deal with that we can't even think about using their list at a commercial level.

If all ISP's just stuck to their guns and NEVER allowed any mail to be delivered if there is no RDNS or if it is on a RESPONSIBLE dnsbl list, the level of Spam would start dropping due to the lack of "gratification" that non-delivery creates.  Lets concentrate and getting some useful, prosecutable, Federal laws passed because, ultimately, the Spammers will always come up with new ways to bypass any new security system.
 
I say ... Let's put some of the moronic jerks in jail.

I suggested this in the past and now I see that Spamcop is doing a bondedsender lookup.  To avoid false positives I know that this site is the tip of the iceberg.  Details at the link below for the bondedsender whitelist setup for sendmail.
