Hi Raphael - sorry, but the setting is global, as the greylisting is applied immediately upon a connection, before the sender's SMTP has issued the commands that specify the sender/recipient of the email.

Hi Bleuszler,

While the underlying TCP components we implemented in the SMTP engine back more than a decade ago did support IPv6, we encountered a lot of issues in trying to determine if the sender’s IPv6 address was “clean” or not. This meant that if SpamFilter received connections from IPv6 addresses it would have not been able to stop the majority of the spam.

We thus unfortunately abandoned the idea of supporting it.

As loathe as I am to resurrect an ~14yr old thread, this seems to be the most recent post relating to this subject (IPv6).

The LogSat admin's post here says that the new (at that time) engine would add IPv6 support, and yet, here, in 2025, I don't see any indication that this exists/has been done.

I'm in the process of implementing a new PI-/40 IPv6 rollout on my network, but, as far as I can tell, cannot use SpamFilter as my SMTP-Edge server in that function. I'd love to keep using it (been on it for over 22 years now!) but if it can't see the network, I won't be able to use it... Unhappy

Hi Alfaproject,

There should not be any issues in the migration to 2019. 

That said, the file gtpdf32.dll (and gtlib32.dll if present) are very old DLL files that were only used briefly in very old versions of SpamFilter between v4.0.1.786 and v4.1.2.811 to scan within PDF files. They were discontinued after those builds as the DLL were too unstable.

Unfortunately your build 4.1.2.808 falls in that interval so it is affected. You should upgrade to a newer version of SpamFilter if possible. If not, you can try setting the value:
SpamPDFMaxPagesToScan=0

in the SpamFilter.ini file to disable the scanning of PDF files with that DLL, and thus hopefully avoiding the issue.

The service doesn't start and give an error on gtpdf32.dll.

Hi Raphael,

Unfortunately I have no additional news - we have not been able to find a viable antivirus partner yet.

For options, we ourselves have Sophos Endpoint Protection running on our SpamFilter servers. SpamFilter is "antivirus friendly", so should any server-based antivirus block any inbound email, or catch malware in any of the temporary files that SpamFilter saves while processing emails, SpamFilter will understand that it was blocked by a 3rd party and will proceed to process other emails without running into any problems due to the blocked/deleted files.
