In the thread about greyed out quarantine buttons, some people were complaining about the shrunk quarantine list. I moved the spamfilter from a NT workstation box to NT4 server and am now experiencing the same issue. Did Logsat team look into this problem? was a solution found? Im running msaccess database using the jet 4.0 driver. The NT4 ws testbox was pretty much maxed out in the cpu area, but it didnt have the shrunk display issue, i am now able to get the view correctly on the NT server by pressing 'refresh list' several times, sometimes i have to press it 20+ times before the screen appears as it should, sometimes it then appears in all bold. Also after force-delivering a message the screen shrinks up. I'm wondering, is this some hardware issue? since i moved to a much faster dual cpu system with fast video card. I'm uncertain what could be causing this, i allready tried upgrading the video driver to latest version, but no chenge. The server is running with SP6a and all hotfixes available. This issue isnt a critical one, but still very inconvenient. Regards, Marco *edit* now running build 458, issue still present Edited by Marco |

No it is not hardware related. I have the exact problem you reported. Same bold font appears, refresh key grayed out. have to press refresh many times to get a relist. I use access DB as well my hardware is Xeron2.0GHZ and 1GB of RAM on Win2000SP4. Man, this is some kind of software....

In case it does have something to do with hardware: Dell poweredge 2450 Dual P3 933 with 512 MB on NT4, sp6a, harddisks in RAID 5 setup. ATI rage IIC vidcard, An old system that i gave a rebirth as mailsweeper.
*edit* it may be insignificant, but also the scrollwheel function is erraneous, before, (on the NT4 ws box) when i scrolled with wheel, the entire screen started scrolling straight away, now, only one of the highlighted fields moves, while the selected record stays selected. Only when the selected field reaches bottom of screen the list starts scrolling. Maybe this has something to do with the sissue. Edited by Marco |

Re run mdac 2.8 on your servers. In the early days we ran into problems where software would over write certain parts of the mdac install. It became a rule for awhile to install mdac 2.8 last and after any new program. So give that a try and let us know if that fixes it. |

re installed mdac 2.8 plus mdac2.8sp1, no change in the quarintine list behaviour, also ran jet 4.0 sp8 again, same result.

Marco,
In the other thread we mentioned a problem with the connection string ( http://logsat.com/spamfilter/forums/forum_posts.asp?TID=5140 #5949). Has that been implemented? If so, and the "shrinkage" issue still occurs, can you please let us know how much RAM the SpamFilter process is using when viwing the quarantine list? |

the conn string has been implemented as you stated, spamfilter.exe uses roughly 26820 K when viewing the quaraintine list. I do not use the spamfiltersvc, but run spf in standalone mode.

Any chance we can remote in the server so we can try to see this
happening and have a better idea of what is going on? Please contact us
by email if so for the connection details.

I may have found a clue as to why the screen gets collapsed; I noticed today that when i scroll down using the cursor key, the highlighted field (note: field, not record) moves down, and then dissappears out of view. If i keep pressing the down key, only after +- 5 seconds the quaraintine list starts panning down. Cpnclusion i make here is that the number of rows the list is trying to display is WAY more than the screen can actually hold with current screen resolution. (current res allows for 29 rows to be displayed, my estimation is that SPF is trying to display around 70) compressing these 70 in the space of 29 'might' give the result of the compressed lines. But ofcourse i'm just guessing. So maybe logsat needs to look in the direction of the screen resolution detection algorithm. Hope this helps, regards, Marco

Marco,
Are you accessing the server remotely thru a remote control applicatoin (if so which one) or locally? We're not able to reproduce the scrolling scenarion you described. Have you tried to replicate this on another computer? |

I use the spamfilter only at the console (locally). after repeated 'refresh list' presses, i see the following errors in activitylog:
07/22/05 09:14:16:089 -- (336) Exception occurred during TUpdateListViewQuarantineThread: Canvas does not allow drawing
This could be due to me pressing the refresh too quickly, but nevertheless....
I'll send you some screenshots with the various 'modes' of compressed view over email. regards, Marco
p.s. i'll try setting up spf on another NT box, and let you know what happens. |

BTW, there's no need to press refresh or restart program: just resize a bit any column and it will be displayed correctly. Ciao MArco
