Hi, usually I receive Mail's via POP3 and route them to my SMTP-Server, does SpamFilter scan the connecting host for RBL entries, or the original IP-Address from which the mail has been sent ???

It works directly on the remote server's IP that is making the connection to the SpamFilter server.

okay, but is it filtering the realy source ??? so, I connect to my provider and get the messages through pop, then going to spamfilter, then to my local smtp-host ... will the realy source ( or all sources - IP/Domain-Addresses ) be checked ???

No, that's not going to work out. SpamFilter is designed to handle incoming email to a SMTP server for a whole domain , not for individual mailboxes. For example, your provider should install SpamFilter to filter all incoming email to their servers. Then when you POP your mailbox, it will be clean.

If you own a domain or a subdomain, then its MX DNS record should be pointing to the SpamFilter server, so that all incoming connections are directed there. SpamFilter then acts as a proxy and forwards all emails to your SMTP server. At this point you use POP to retrieve emails from the SMTP server.

If instead you do not own the domain, and are simply POP'ping a number of emails from your provider into an SMTP server you own, and then retrieving them again thru pop, you will not see the original IP address of the sender, and will not be able to use all features of SpamFilter. SpamFilter does not look at any of the IPs in the email headers since the email headers are not a reliable source of information as they can easily be faked.
