Subject: Possible problem with Quarrantine database in 1.2.0.178

Seems that if a large number of entries are added to the spam-filter database (I'm using the default MS Access ones), it is not possible to select and delete them.  Right now, I have about 90 porno attempts in my database and the "Refresh list" "Deliver Selected" and "Delete Selected" buttons are all greyed out, and remain so even if I click on one of the entries in the list.  The only option I have is to hide the list.  If I select that, the "Refresh list", "Deliver Selected" and "Delete Selected" buttons return to normal, but, of course, as there is nothing in the list (It is hidden!), they are useless.  Hitting "Refresh list" causes the list to reappear, but, once again, the buttons mentioned above are greyed out.

I've tried stopping and restarting SpamFilter, but to no avail.  I'm going to try to restart the entire server and see if that helps.  If not, then perhaps this might be a bug worth looking into .

It is worth noting that having to delete 90 spams one-by-one is a royal pain in the @$$.  Is there a way to select multiple spams (Other than by tagging them one-by-one with the control-click combination) so as to delete them en masse?  I seem to recall a "Select all" and "Delete All" button in previous versions.  I miss these....

Please note that if using MS Access as a database platform, Microsoft's Data Access Components (MDAC) 2.7 or greater need to be installed because of issues with prior releases.

If you're not using Access, if you can please let us know what OS you are running and what database platform we'll have more info to work with.

I am experiencing the same issue.

Version 1.2.0.178

MS Access Database

MDAC 2.7 sp1

Windows 2k Server sp2, 512 MB ram

If I replace the database with a new copy from the distribution, it all comes good again.

But after it has been running for a while the problem returns.

Aaron,

Please note that when quarantined emails are deleted using the GUI or thru the web interface, they are not immediately deleted from the database. They are instead marked for deletion by toggling a database field, and are batch-deleted by SpamFilter at regular intervals (configured under the Settings - QuarantineDB tab). Also note that there is no need to manuallyu remove items from the database as they are deleted automatically when their retension period has expired.

We are working to reintroduce the "Select All" and "Delete All" buttons that were lost when the quarantine was DB-enabled...

Can we at least allow for the following scenario?

  • Go to top of messages
  • Select first message
  • Holding down Shift, press Page Down to select more message
  • Press Delete Selected.

I go to the first message, highlight it, hold the shift key down and then hold the down arrow key on the keyboard until all are highlighted.  With the fast keyboard repeat rate the entire list is highlight VERY quickly...

I'm aware of that option, but that's not nearly a fast enough solution for the number of messages I have chosen to deal with.
