Hello All,

we're running V178 and encountered a strange problem. Everything on the spamfilter is functioning as expected until today a customer called why we didn't reply'd on his questions by e-mail. After some searching it appears that the session doesn't finish properly. I've turned on the SMTP debugging and this is what it shows:

>>EHLO post-21.mail.nl.demon.net
<<250-AUTH LOGIN
<<250-8BITMIME
<<250 HELP
>>MAIL FROM:<someone mailto:someone@somewhere.nl" CLASS="ASPForums" TITLE="WARNING: URL created by poster. - @somewhere.nl >
<<250 someone mailto:someone@somewhere.nl" CLASS="ASPForums" TITLE="WARNING: URL created by poster. - @somewhere.nl Address Okay
>>RCPT TO:<anyone mailto:anyone@ourcompany.nl" CLASS="ASPForums" TITLE="WARNING: URL created by poster. - @ourcompany.nl >
<<250 anyone mailto:anyone@ourcompany.nl" CLASS="ASPForums" TITLE="WARNING: URL created by poster. - @ourcompany.nl Address Okay
>>DATA
<<354 Start mail input; end with <CRLF>.<CRLF>
>>Received: from [212.238.225.5] (helo=Mail.ANVR.NL)
>> dan zo snel mogelijk.

On the list of bug fixes there's this item in version 197:
{DONE -cFix : Fixed extra "dot" command at end of transmission}
is this the exact problem i'm having in V178 ?

Regards, Richard

Richard,

The issue with the extra dot should not affect you. It consists in sending an extra dot to your destination SMTP server after sending the whole message. The only side effect is that your SMTP server has to reply with an extra "Unknown command" before SpamFilter disconnects.

Turning SMTP tracing on in SpamFilter will catch the first lines of the email, but leaves some of the content out, it's used so admins can see the first lines of headers. Are you seing any errors in the SpamFilter activity log?
