I am in the process of evaluating SpamFilter, and can’t understand or solve my problems.  At the time being, I am letting everything through and nothing rejected.  Yet I find messages are still being blocked.  Tried to find the blocked messages in the Quarantine page,  but nothing there.  Database(Access) is active but no messages quarantined.  I’ve been searching in the forum for similar problems and tried some of the suggestions, but no luck.  I can’t get approval for this, if it doesn’t work.  Is this even a workable version?

W2K Server (all updates/SP4)

MDAC 2.8

Access 2000

SpamFilter v1.20.178

Vinh,

Please note that there are cases where SpamFilter will lock email but not quarantine it. An example is if someone from Yahoo.com tries to bounce an email to microsoft.com using you server. Obviously you do not own microsoft.com, so the email should never be accepted by your server. In this case, there is no need to quarantine it, and it's rejected immediately.

If you say you "are letting everything through" then most likely you indeed are, and nothing will be quarantined. There will be always rejections caused by the above explanation (relay attempts using your server) that won't get quarantined.

Unless you configure some filters to actually begin blocking something there will not be a way to test if your quarantine database is working.
