i am new to this...any one would please care to point me to a faq

or can please explain how does honeypot feature work?

What is ther creteria for collecting IP numbers that go into pot?

Put, for your domains nonexistant mail adresses into honeypot, and anyone that sends mail to those will get banned. That is basically the idea.

Suppose you donot have a mail user with the name 'spammagnet@yourdomain.com'  , but that mail adress is bombarded with spam from various senders, add to honeypot and all the spammers will get banned.

More specifically, it is the IP of the sender that is blocked.  This should be used with care however, and not without considering that many spammers still use dynamic addressing zombies that use part of legitament IP ranges (Comcast, etc).

You might want to make use of the INI feature to do not add certain IP's to the block list.
