SpamFilter is hanging.  Once this happens the server must be rebooted.  The service will not stop.  This is happend every few days. Running 473.

I have the same problem.  I can't recall what version it started with.  It's been some months now. Every day or so.  The service will not stop but you can kill it in task manager.  I'm currently running 481.

Harvey,

Could you please zip and email us (support at logsat.com) a couple of SpamFilter logs for a day this occurs so we can take a look at them?

Sure.  Next time it happens.

Of course it probably won't happen any more now that we want it to. :)

Ocasionally I experience spamfilter "not responding" and usually happens when i click on the application gui.  normally only a reboot will fix.
i have experienced this on various versions of SF

Also the same problem here. A month ago we switched to RealtimeDiskLogging, but from time to time the system hangs without any errors in the logs.

Yesterday we switched back from realtime logging and 8 hours later, in the middle of the night (not much traffic) the system hangs again with these last words:

09-15-05 04:38:40:156 -- (316) Time to add Msg to Bayes corpus:0

09-15-05 09:23:44:140 -- SpamFilter ISP v2.6.3.473 Listening on 192.168.1.243:25,

We also saw a crash during updating the antivirus stuf and scanning at the same time. The email was lost.

Another thing is that in the temp directory often tmp files are left behind, mostly with a size of 3264Kb.... yesterday more than 10 and two last night. We are running 473.

agavv,

The symptom you see in the logs is the same a handful of other customers were receiving. Build 482 took care of their issue, and we're fairly certain we were able to pinpoint the problem he was seing. Hopefully the fix will work for you as well.

Please let us know if it does not, and if so we'll try to find out what else could be wrong.

I found that turning off the bayesian filter cures the issue.

I no longer have this problem. I'm not sure what fixed it but it hasn't happened once since I posted to this thread.

just an FYI, maybe roberto can confirm this, but if you minimize spamfilter, it will run faster and without problems....not sure why but it helps on my server.
