Does SF cache the DNS replies it gets? If not, would it be advisable to install a (cache-only) dns server on the same machine as SF to cut down on network traffic?

SpamFilter does not cache DNS replies. However...
If an IP address is sending spam, after a few emails get caught within a short period of time, the IP will be added to a temporary local IP blacklist cache (if this filter is enabled), and any further connections will be immediately rejected.

Yes I'm aware of that function...
So you would say installing a cache-only dns server on the machine would help?
A ham message goes through a lot of tests - and quite a few of them are DNS based, so I would expect a cut down of external DNS requests...
What do you think? Should I try?
