Hello all,

A customer has contacted me saying an email they'd been sent has been bounced back. Upon checking the logs, I can see that is the case and why it has been bounced back, but the email should also have been quarantined. In the log it says 02/10/09 08:31:26:285 -- (10416) Adding to Quarantine file:Qrtn77080EE7-C407-4C9F-8DB5-DF6C1D5879F5.tmp, but I can not find this email in the quarantine database, and I can't find the file Qrtn77080EE7-C407-4C9F-8DB5-DF6C1D5879F5.tmp anywhere.

If I check the DatabaseSetup tab in SF, it states the Quarantine DB is active, and would assume that if the Database wasn't active, the file Qrtn77080EE7-C407-4C9F-8DB5-DF6C1D5879F5.tmp would still be present, somewhere?

Currently running v4.0.1.786. Any ideas? Thanks.

Lyndonje,

If SpamFilter was unable to store the email in the quarantine database, the message would have been temporarily stored in the \SpamFilter\quarantine directory until the database was again available. When this happened, SpamFilter would automatically have resumed the archiving of queued messages to the DB.

If you can please zip and email us SpamFilter's activity logfile for the 10th (today), we'll look thru it to find out what happened. If the zip is over 5MB in size, please use our ftp site to send us the file. I'll PM you with the login information.

Hi Roberto,

I maybe going mad..... I am now able to see the emails in the database?? Which means I must have just missed them earlier? I think I'm going crazy!

Appologise for anytime you may have spent on this already....

My other topic is still concerning though.

Many thanks!

Hi Lyndon,

... :-) yeap, i think the email was archived correctly to begin with, as there are no errors related to it. As an example, we only saw one single failure to insert another email in your database, which was logged with the following entries:

02/10/09 10:02:12:708 -- (10600) Adding to Quarantine file:QrtnC3D90C4E-5D3D-4BC2-92A0-48F169AF6417.tmp
02/10/09 10:02:12:708 -- (10600) Database is busy - cannot quarantine EMail from SecuritySol@cab08.net to your_user@your_domain.com - archival queued

However SpamFilter automatically retried a few minutes later, and this log entries show the retry was successful:

02/10/09 10:07:10:747 -- (12052) Adding to Quarantine file:QrtnC3D90C4E-5D3D-4BC2-92A0-48F169AF6417.tmp.queued
02/10/09 10:07:10:778 -- (12052) EMail from SecuritySol@cab08.net to your_user@your_domain.com was received and quarantined. Size: 5 KB, 5120 bytes
