Since our MS update last night, whenever we receive a PDF file and
a scan starts, SF just hangs and refuses to respond. No logfile entry,
nothing. I am running 4.0.1.786 w/o A/V.

Last log file entry is "scanning PDF" and then boom. I have to either
reboot or kill off with task manager and restart.

For now I have disabled PDFs scans....

Ah, and it is a legitimate Email. A PDF being generated by Quickbooks.

Hi - we have the same problem. how did you disable pdf scan?

There are two ways to address this problem.

First, turn off PDF scanning. To do this, you have
to edit spamfilter.ini and then restart spamfilter.
The changes to be made are:

SpamPDFMaxPagesToScan=0             ;(initially 2)
BlockBlankEmailsWithAttachments=    ;(initially *.pdf)

The second way to address this is to upgrade to 4.1.2.805
This is real easy to do and you do not need to edit spamfilter.ini.
(You will need to restart!)

BTW, Thanks Roberto for the fix!!!

ostaa,

We apologize, there was an issue on the registered user area that prevented the download of the pre-release versions of SpamFilter. They (along with SF v4.1.2.805) should be visible now after logging in.
