A little bit of topic, but wanted to know if anyone uses a transparent proxy for the purpose of mail archiving, and if so, can you share what you're using?

if you have a clever way that you go about mail archiving NOT in your mail server, please share.

Basically looking for idea on how to implement a simple mail archive in a sql database (record of all incoming and outgoing messages)
