I have external users that are getting the Error "You are not allowed to send mail (account name)".  This is the response if there is no Reverse DNS configured.  If we turn on Reverse DNS we have even more email rejected.

Has anyone run into this problem

Adam,

Are they your users who are trying to send out emails to the outside and are unable to do so? If so, please note that SpamFilter is designed to handle incoming email only. Internal users should still use you SMTP server for their "outgoing smtp server" in their email client configuration.

If not, and the errors are seen by external users trying to send mail to you, then can you please let us know exactly what the error message they are receivng is?

I dont understand your question exact, sorry about my basic english. We also turned on "rejection if no reverse DNS". There are false positive, but anyway such a big ISP as AOL also rejects connections without propper reverse lookup. And if more ISPs/Organisations are using this feature ligitimate mailservers would have reverse DNS-Records.

Adam,  If the users outside are using something like Outlook Express and trying to send email through your server, one very good solution is that they should always send via the ISP's smtp server, not through your server (configure Outlook Express's smtp server to be the smtp server of the sender's ISP).  That has worked well for one of our clients and for us.
