I've noticed that my SQL quarantine is growing and that messages are not being purged. I found that purging the quarantine on a SQL database is not yet implemented.

How can I purge the quarantine for anything older than say 2 days? I have that marked in the Settings Quarantine DB tab. It's set to purge older than 2 days every 6 hours. Obviously it's not.

Bill,

The quarantine purge is fully functional. The error message:

[Microsoft][ODBC SQL Server Driver]Optional feature not implemented

Is reported by SQL Server, not SpamFilter. SpamFilter is logging the error "as is" from SQL. What version of (1) SpamFilter, (2) SQL Server and (3) MDAC components are you runing?

Roberto has responded, but just to add my two cents...

We have run into the "Optional feature not implemented" error message in the past, not with SpamFilter but with other applications that utilized an ODBC connection to SQL Server.  The issue usually involves compatibility issues that are introduced, or implicit data conversions that are not properly supported, by the ODBC driver itself.  Updating to a recent MDAC release "magically" resolves many of these issues.  If you're already on MDAC 2.7 SP1 or better, then you may need to look elsewhere... otherwise, you'd be well-advised to make this upgrade your next step in troubleshooting.

We are currently running MDAC 2.8 with a current licensed SpamFilter build, and having no problems at all with quarantine purge or any other database-related issues for that matter.

Thanks, I'll do this update tonight and see what happens. Thanks to Roberto too!!! I guess this being the only app I've seen that message from I was confused as to it's source. But I learned something so that's good <g>

Hi Roberto,

I upgraded to MDAC 2.8 last night using Spam Filter x.206, the latest published/registered release, with SQL 2000. I updated the MDAC on the box running Spam Filter, but did not upgrade the MDAC on the SQL server, should I upgrade it there as well?

Bill,

The latest MDAC's are recommended for the client server only, there are no known issues that would require them to be installed on the SQL server itself.
