Roberto,

Im using the registered version and I have some entries in the log like that:

02/09/04 10:01:09:685 -- (280) EMail from: mailto:x@uol.com.br" CLASS="ASPForums" TITLE="WARNING: URL created by poster. - x@uol.com.br to: mailto:y@grupo.sulamerica.com.br" CLASS="ASPForums" TITLE="WARNING: URL created by poster. - y@grupo.sulamerica.com.br   was returned to sender - server error - 10.0.0.28 said: Requested action aborted: Message larger than permitted.

02/09/04 10:01:09:925 -- (280) Error-email from mailto:x@uol.com.br" CLASS="ASPForums" TITLE="WARNING: URL created by poster. - x@uol.com.br to mailto:y@grupo.sulamerica.com.br" CLASS="ASPForums" TITLE="WARNING: URL created by poster. - y@grupo.sulamerica.com.br   was forwarded to 10.0.0.28

Looking at my gateway (10.0.0.28) logs I have:

09-Feb-2004 10:02:13  Action: Message Dropped  From: 10.0.0.35  To: mailto:x@uol.com.br" CLASS="ASPForums" TITLE="WARNING: URL created by poster. - x@uol.com.br
SMTP ID: M2004020910021307040  Connection ID: 1658710  Info: Relay not allowed via server.
Info2: 550
mailto:x@uol.com.br" CLASS="ASPForums" TITLE="WARNING: URL created by poster. - x@uol.com.br ...Relaying denied

My gateway is doing its job. Cant accept an e-mail from my SF (10.0.0.35) to be delivered to uol.com.br

What is this "Error-email" and why my SF is trying to deliver it to my gateway instead of returning it back to uol.com.br ?

This log is very strange:

02/09/04 22:57:59:138 -- (132) EMail from: mailto:x@ing-coam.com.mx" CLASS="ASPForums" TITLE="WARNING: URL created by poster. - x@ing-coam.com.mx to: mailto:y@grupo.sulamerica.com.br" CLASS="ASPForums" TITLE="WARNING: URL created by poster. - y@grupo.sulamerica.com.br , mailto:z@grupo.sulamerica.com.br" CLASS="ASPForums" TITLE="WARNING: URL created by poster. - z@grupo.sulamerica.com.br   was returned to sender - server error - Out of memory
02/09/04 22:58:07:550 -- (132) Error-email from
mailto:x@ing-coam.com.mx" CLASS="ASPForums" TITLE="WARNING: URL created by poster. - x@ing-coam.com.mx to mailto:y@grupo.sulamerica.com.br" CLASS="ASPForums" TITLE="WARNING: URL created by poster. - y@grupo.sulamerica.com.br , mailto:z@grupo.sulamerica.com.br" CLASS="ASPForums" TITLE="WARNING: URL created by poster. - z@grupo.sulamerica.com.br   was forwarded to 10.0.0.28

and my gateway answered:

09-Feb-2004 22:58:52  Action: Message Dropped  From: 10.0.0.35  To: ijsantana@ing-coam.com.mx
SMTP ID: M2004020922585229514  Connection ID: 1692918  Info: Relay not allowed via server.
Info2: 550 ijsantana@ing-coam.com.mx ...Relaying denied

What is this "Out of memory" error in SF ? While SF is receiving this message my processor goes to space (100%) during 14 minutes on average. The worst part is that the smtp server of  ing-coam.com.mx tries to send it again and again to my SF.

Is this a bug ?

Thanks,

Abel.

Abel,

Two points to note here.

(1) SpamFilter never send emails out with the exception of to your destination SMTP server(s). If Non-Delivery Notifications are to be sent, SpamFilter uses your destination SMTP server to send them out.

(2) In the SpamFilter activity logs, anything following the server error words ( this was modified to server error - xx.xx.xx.xx.said: in the new 212 build) is the error message SpamFilter receives from your destination SMTP server when it attempts to forward it emails.

This said, the way I interpet your first two log entries is as follows:

02/09/04 10:01:09:685 -- (280) EMail from: mailto:x@uol.com.br" CLASS="ASPForums" TITLE="WARNING: URL created by poster. - to: mailto:y@grupo.sulamerica.com.br" CLASS="ASPForums" TITLE="WARNING: URL created by poster. -   was returned to sender - server error - 10.0.0.28 said: Requested action aborted: Message larger than permitted.
Here SpamFilter tried to forward the email to your destination SMTP server, but the latter refused it because it was too large

02/09/04 10:01:09:925 -- (280) Error-email from mailto:x@uol.com.br" CLASS="ASPForums" TITLE="WARNING: URL created by poster. - to mailto:y@grupo.sulamerica.com.br" CLASS="ASPForums" TITLE="WARNING: URL created by poster. -   was forwarded to 10.0.0.28
Since it was not able to deliver the message, SpamFilter now needs to send a Non-Delivery Receipt to the sender, mailto:x@uol.br" CLASS="ASPForums" TITLE="WARNING: URL created by poster. - You will need to configure your SMTP server to allow SpamFilter's IP address to relay to the internet, otherwise NDR will not be sent.

Now going to your following logs:

02/09/04 22:57:59:138 -- (132) EMail from: mailto:x@ing-coam.com.mx" CLASS="ASPForums" TITLE="WARNING: URL created by poster. - - x@ing-coam.com.mx to: mailto:y@grupo.sulamerica.com.br" CLASS="ASPForums" TITLE="WARNING: URL created by poster. - - y@grupo.sulamerica.com.br , mailto:z@grupo.sulamerica.com.br" CLASS="ASPForums" TITLE="WARNING: URL created by poster. - - z@grupo.sulamerica.com.br   was returned to sender - server error - Out of memory

we could back to note (2), which indicates the the “Out of memory” error was sent to SpamFilter by your destination SMTP server. But there’s an exception to consider because (in this case only) the “Out of memory” could also be a SpamFilter error. Does this tie in with the email you sent to support about the Exception occurred during RECEIVEMESSAGE: Out of memory  errors?

Roberto,

I understand your point (1). I adjusted my gateway to accept this NDR messages from spamfilter.

Now, this Out of memory error is returned by Spamfilter, not my gateway, and yes it is the same problem reported to your support.

Since now that my gateway will accept the NDR, my clients will start to receive this "Out of memory" error back and its not good.

I have turned on the debug to catch the message that is causing this problem. I sent it to you + the log file to the place that you asked me to do in the support answer that you sent to me.

Thanks for your help on this.

Abel.
