Just a quick question, if say 500 spam emails hit my server, and they all come from the same open relay will there be a lookup to the RBL for each email or will 1 lookup deal with all of them?

We are trying to get a good feel for the increase in network (WAN) traffic we will see as a result of the reverse lookups for the RBL checks. Any input would be appreciated.

Wayne,

Currently there is one RBL lookup per incoming connection. All other tests are performed before the DNS lookup to avoid it as much as possible. Caching the lookup result to avoid repeating it is in the works and should be ready fairly soon. In any case, in theory even with extra lookups you should still be saving bandwidth if the email gets rejected.
