It seems as the the process name for the SpamFilter service was changed from SpamFilterSvc to SPAMFI~2 in v1.1.2.117.  Previously, I was running 1.1.0.80, with the old behavior.

The installation program may have translated filenames into 8dot3 format. If  you issue the
following command from a DOS prompt in the spamfilter directory:

SpamFilterSvc /reinstall

the service path "should" be reset to the correct format.

If not, try

SpamFilterSvc /uninstall

and then

SpamFilterSvc /install

Can this be done without shutting down the service?

Not using the command line, the service will shutdown when you issue that command.
