We are planning to replace our sql server where the quarantine database resides.  If we shut it down I realize that quarantine destined emails will be dropped by the spamfilter product.  If we temporarily added

*.ourdomain.com

to the unfiltered email  recipients.  I would assume that all email will flow through without spam filtering and no lost quarantined messages will occur.  Instead all mail including spam will flow into our mail system for the period of time that *.ourdomain.com exists in the unfiltered users list.  When the database server is available again we could then remove the unfiltered user from the list and everything would then process through spam filter. (accurate?)

Will there be any side effects from this action (other than letting in the spam)?

Terry

Terry,

Just make sure that SpamFilter is restarted AFTER your new SQL server is running.  Other than that, I don't see any problem.

Terry,

As an alternate solution you could click on the option(s) to "Tag and deliver" email. This will cause all emails detected to be spam to be "tagged" as such, either by prefixing "SPAM" in the subject or by adding an email header. The spam is then delivered without being quarantined. Your users will visually see emails marked as spam when they arrive, and no spam emails will be lost.
