I am just evaluating Spamfilter and I have a question which I hope won't be too stupid.

I have set a number of email addresses in the "Authorized To Emails" list and everything seems fine, however.

Earlier today, one guy sent and email to 2 recipients at the domain.  The first recipient was mis-spelled and was rejected - as expected.  The copy to the second recipient (which was spelled correctly) was also rejected.

I noticed that there is a message a little further down the logfile that says "Blacklist cache - Added XXX.XX.XX.XX to limbo"

Is this normal behaviour and what is actually happening here.

Thanks for your help.  I must say that the product so far looks great - much better than anything else I've tried so far.

Belvoir,

If you are using the AuthorizedTO whitelist, and an email arrives with an email address that is not present in that list, the sender is disconnected. We are disconnecting, rather than simply outputting an error messages stating that the user does not exist, to prevent spammers from guessing which are valid addresses and which are not. Unfortunately this does cause emails with multiple recipients, where one of them is misspelled, to be rejected.

The latest releases of SpamFilter have a new feature that temporarily caches the IP addresses of repeat spammers. If a remote IP is present in this "blacklist cache", connections from this IP are immediately rejected, saving CPU and bandwidth. Entries from this cache are automatically removed after 60 minutes to give a chance to the sender to try again.
