Hi All,

I have downloaded the current eval version, configured it and I am quite impressed overall.

However, when I install it as a service and try to start it, it fails.

I get 2 entries in the evnetlog....

1.   The SpamFilter service was successfully sent a start control.

2. The SpamFilter service terminated unexpectedly. It has done this 1 time(s)

I have enabled the debug logging, which works fine when fired up as a stand alone app, but no logs are created when firing up as a service.

Has anyone ever seen this before?? or can I not run the eval version as a service?? (not much of an eval if I can't)

Thanks in advance

StevenJohns,

The free versionis not limited in any way, so the service should work. Please ensure you close the standalone version of SpamFilter before starting the service, as two applications cannot use the same IP:port combination, and thus you can't have two SpamFilters both trying to listen on port 25. Also please check to ensure the SpamFilter service is running using the Local System account to logon, and is configured to "interact with desktop".

If you are still having issues, please either post or email us at support at logsat dot com SpamFilter's activity logfile from the SpamFilter\logfiles directory so we can take a look.

Sorry that I didn't make everything clear in my origional post.

Yes, obviously I have stopped the foreground application first.

Yes, the service is configured to logon as the LocalSystem account and has "interact with desktop" checked.

I will send you the .ini file and the logfiles as you requested, however, please note that the service doesn't even write to your debug logfiles, it craps out well before that.

StevenJohns,

One of my emails to you today bounced back. I was askign for a copy of Windows' application and system logs for yesterday so we can cross-reference them with SpamFilter's logfile.
