We are on SpamFilter ISP version 4.0.1.783 and I love the greylisting feature.  We have encountered a problem with one of our senders however.  That sender uses e-mail services, which are purchased through mediatemple.com (which in turn is hosted by gridservice.com) and appears to have many

different mail exchangers. It seems that a different server

is attempting subsequent deliveries (after the 421 is given), which may throw things into some kind of greylisting loop (where that server in turn hands the next delivery off to another).

The result of problem is that the email is never delivered.
Have others encountered this problem?  They are asking me to exclude a range of ip addresses from greylist filtering...I am very reluctant to do that and really not sure if it is even possible?  Any ideas on how best to handle this?  The sender at this time is reverting to fax....

Terry,

You can manually add individual IP addresses that you want to bypass the greylisting test by editing the GreyListAllowed.txt file located in the \SpamFilter\Domains directory.

You will need to stop SpamFilter before making changes to the file, as it is loaded when SpamFilter starts, and SpamFilter will make changes to it up to the time it shuts down.

Just edit it and add the IPs to be excluded in this format (ex to add 192.168.21.32):
192.168.21.32~43100.1111111111

the 43100.11111111 is actually a number indicating a date in the far away future, telling SpamFilter to hold on to that IP without expiring it until that date (several years form now....).

The IPs must be added individually, this list does not support wildcards.

Terry,

As an ISP we have a large IP range and we simply used Excel to create the list for the thousand or so IPs we did not want delayed.
