Hi, I'm moving our spamfilter to a new rig and was wondering what server OS is currently recomended for Spamfilter ISP?
We've been running on 2003 up until now, but was wondering if we should switch to 2008R2 at the same time as switching hardware.
Any recomendations?

Thanks
Brekkjen

Brekkejen,

We do support Windows 2008, however p lease note that Windows 2008 handles interactive services (services which display a GUI to the end-users) quite differently than Windows 2000 and Windows 2003. We have a small thread on our forum that briefly discusses this:

If you do have an equal choice between the two OS, we'd suggest staying with 2003 as it makes it more convenient to administer SpamFilter.

Thanks for your answer, we will keep it on 2003. No need to change a winning team :)

I have one on 2003 (web edition) and one on 2008.  The 2008 edition is because it is a dedicated server and the ISP can not sell a server with 2003 anymore.

My 2003 box is stable, on the 2008 server spamfilter's GUI crashes all the time.  The software still runs but when I access the box there is an exception alert and it wants to restart the application.  If I had the option, I would also stick with 2003 on that server.

have one running on 03, and another on 08.  Except for having to use the interactive services box on 08, they both function flawlessly.  And it is really not even a bother.
