Just a question,

Trying to optimize the catching ratio it seems a good idea to collect al list of the most succesful blacklists to use in logsat.

When i used spampal for a workstation ( it has a hitratio counter)  i noticed some list hardly catched any spam  and some others a lot more. I do not think it's a good idea to have to much lists in logsat ( to much time consuming?)

43% of the spam was catched by: spamcop

this is our list:

bl.spamcop.net, true
sbl.spamhaus.org, true
spam.dnsrbl.net, true
relays.ordb.org, true
dnsbl.njabl.org, true

this one is suggested by several people:

sbl-xbl.spamhaus.org

Can we build a small but succesful list for logsat, and if so which blacklists to use?

Here's the list of sites I've used in various installs (not all in one site but across several). I usually pick a combination of 3 to 5 of these and set the configuration to drop the email when it's matched either at 2 or 3 of them (I never use 1) depending on how many I put in the list. At my home (only at my home) I have them all in the list and have it set for 4... It's a smart spammer that I see at home... I get zero regular garbage. I use them all at home in order to know when one stops working so that I can update the various installs that may be using that particular site. I tend to pick spamcop.net, spamhaus.org, or ordb.org as a base catcher then add in a couple of the others to validate the result.

dnsbl.sorbs.net, true
cbl.abuseat.org, true
bl.spamcop.net, true
sbl.spamhaus.org, true
spam.dnsrbl.net, true
dnsbl.njabl.org, true
relays.ordb.org, true
relays.visi.com, true
ybl.megacity.org, true
spammers.v6net.org, true
