Sometimes providing customer support can be a thankless task, as most of the time you only hear from your customers when there is a problem.

As I normally only post when I have problems (most of which are minor), I would just like to say that I do actually think SF is a very good piece of software, and the customer support provided by LogSat and other SF users is very good!

Just though I would create a post to mention my appreciation of your good customer support!

I guess I should say something here.  I did tech support for many years and know first hand what a hellish and thankless job that can be ... especially while you are really trying to get your real job done.  I have worked with Roberto both on the forum and through MANY emails over the past several years and keep wondering how he puts up with me!  There really are no words for just how dedicated Roberto is to his product development and support.  I have received support from him from airports, during hurricanes and even from Italy.  He is either really good ... or crazy.  Or both!  I knew I would get good support from this product right from the start when I was searching for a replacement for my existing Spam filtering and I found his product.  I shot him an email with some questions and as I was stepping away from my computer, the phone rang.  It was Roberto, on a weekend, at night ready to answer all my questions.  Weird huh?

Anyway, as lyndonje stated, besides the support, the product is very good and has evolved, at times overnight, in response to new Spam techniques and customers, like myself, requesting outrageous additions.  Until LogSat, I have never worked with a product whose developer has responded so directly to customer and industry needs.

ON THAT NOTE:  The SFDB is an incredibly effective addition of late that has become nearly my top blocker ... after some fine tuning, with no false positives that I have yet been notified of.  For those using SawMill, I have added the SFDB to the log file plug-in but I am not sure if Greg at Sawmill has incorporated it in the latest download or not. Your header on that file should be:
  # Updated to match new log entries - Apr-17-2006 Dan Seligmann, Mags Net, LLC
  log.format.format_label = "LogSat SpamFilterISP Log Format B500.9"
if it is the latest.

Gotta get to my real work now.
The Desperado

SpamFilter ISP v1.0 was released in August 2002. In 4 years we've seen many "big" products from "reliable" companies come and go... Just one pair of shoulders often are more reliable than 100 people who have different views on where their company shold go...

You have done a great job with this product and the support.   There are alot of talented people in this forumn that are clearly committed to this product.  I have been using it for 2 years and am very happy with it.

Is it true that you only have one man development team, Roberto?

It is a great product especially comparing the price v.s. quality. Our spam situation is almost next to none without investing 10s of thousands $$$ to some big names.

I find that the best projects usually involve the least amount of people, and SF is one the of the better products we own.
