with the addition of 3 more domains to the filter, there are thousands of spam a day.
at least 100-200 SPAM are passing the filter and catching on my custom keyword list and the sfdc not go to quarentiene glitch. This is alot of work for me to have to clear out 200 SPAM every 20 min.

ed.kalk, When you say the quarantine id full of spam, do you mean the database or the file folder "quarantine"? Also, where are you clearing out the spam from? If the spam is sitting in the Database, there is no reason that you have to manually clear it out as it should expire. Perhaps I am mis-understanding?

I’m not sure why you need to “clean out” items from the quarantine. If email is spam, it will end up in the quarantine, and SpamFilter will automatically delete it after the retention period expires (the default should be around 7 days). It is absolutely normal to have several millions of spam emails in the database, so the amount you refer to is pretty irrelevant.
If you need to force the delivery of 100-200 emails out of the quarantine because they are valid emails, that’s another story, it is absolutely not normal, and is an indication of a misconfiguration. Once we’re able to see some sample emails that were blocked by mistake as we asked you the other day we may be able to help. |

right, and right. The thing is, what about when there is a false positive in there?
Who is supposed to sift through all that spam looking for false positives?

ed.kalk,
Most of the SpamFilterISP users have custom web based GUIs that allow the individual email recipients sift through their own spam quarantine. What we find (as an ISP ourselves) is that some customers check all the time and some customers never check. We work to keep the "False Positive" blocking down to a minimum so that many of our users simply trust that whatever is blocked is actually spam and then use the interface only when some contact of theirs tells them that they were blocked.

Ed, if you have to soft thru 199 spams to find just **one** false positive, this means that SpamFilter is doing an excellent job. I'm not sure what you're looking for here. You will never have a product that will stop every single email. Every now and then one good email will be blocked by mistake, and other times spam will be let thru. This is life on the internet, and if a user want to use email, they need to get accustomed to this. If they want to be 100% sure that no good emails are stopped, they will either have to sift thru every single email spam emails that arrives, or they should not be using a spam filtering solution to begin with. You are very welcome to try other solutions to see if they work better than SpamFilter and have the features you expect.
We received your file with the false positives, and will examine it shortly to let you know why those emails were stopped by mistake. |

Just to drop my 2cents worth in here....
We believe (from feedback from our customers) than the odd false positive is a small price to pay for the excellent job SFI does of filtering spam.
With the web interface for the quarantine our customers have the ability to release false positives which they do with little fuss. Also keep in mind that most false positives are caused by blacklisted mailservers or incorrectly configured domains so most of the time it's the sender's fault rather than something like keywords causing the message to be quarantined.
