I recently downloaded Spam Filter program this past Sunday.

I am running version 2.0.1.302.  It has been running fine since then.  I have been adding some keyword filters and some domain whitelists.  I did the majority of this yesterday and today the CPU is maxing out at 100%.

I took out all the domains and keywords, restarted the program as a service and it worked OK for about 30 mins and now the CPU is maxed out at 100% again.

I have this running on an AMD 2600+ with 1GB RAM, windows 2000 server.

Is there anything we can do about this CPU issue?

Currently the maximum set to default at 100.

Hey John,

I have noticed this as well, as I too run Win2K. I solved my problem by not running the Spamfilter as a service. I know that this isn't exactly the way most of us would want to run it, but it solved the high CPU usage in my case. Just try starting the Spamfilter as a stand-alone app, and see if that helps. Everytime I upgrade to a new version as they are released, I try to run the Spamfilter in the service mode, and it will run fine for a short time, then it starts chewing up CPU resources. Going back to non-service mode sovles everytime...not sure what causes it to do this. Something to try at least...hope it helps.

Regards,

Chuck

John,

The free version 2.0.1.302 has some know bugs that cause memory and performance issues. They have all been fixed in the versions available to licensed users. Please contact us by email so we can help you continue your evaluation.

Thanks for the above.  I have been unable to run the Bayesian filter because every time I would turn it on my CPU usage would go up to 100% and stay that way until I turned Bayesian feature off.  I was running Spamfilter as a service on my NT box.   I tried running it in stand alone mode with the Bayesian filter turned on and it is working fine.  The memory usage doubled which does not matter because I have always had plenty of that to spare.  So again thanks for the tip I really wanted to run the Bayesian filter and just could not do in while running Spamfilter as a service.
