    Posted: 31 December 2004 at 12:26pm
What is this?  For several weeks now, I have been totally unable to receive any e-mail from Denmark, my home country and from where I usually receive a lot of e-mail.  I have been unable to receive any Christmas mail, and when calling the help desk at Verizon am being told that there is nothing they can do about it.  Well, there is something I can do about it, and that is to discontinue with Verizon as both our Internet Service provider and phone service provider.  If Verizon is too lazy or ineffient to solve whatever problem this is and refuses to let anybody know what is happening or that certain e-mails are not getting through, well, then I am through with them.  I am outraged and disgusted.  What am I paying Verizon for if not for getting my e-mail through?  Wake up, Verizon.

No, the website you mentioned does not talk about the same problem we have faced with Verizon.  Verizon has for the last month been blocking all e-mail coming from Denmark (and other countries, including sites in France, the UK, and Japan, judging from V. complaint websites we have found).  No notice has been given to either sender or recipient that this was happening.  They have simply thrown the mail away, and when we have called the Verizon help-desk, we have been told, that they have no access to the list of sites blocked (supposedly due to fear of Spam), and cannot restore individual e-mail addresses.  No length of time to wait for this to be solved could be given, and a couple of the (no)help people suggested I establish a hotmail or Yahoo account.  Is this what I'm paying Verizon for???

Dan,

I believe Margit is a Verizon customer, and she is complaining (rightfully so) that Verizon has decided to block *all* email from Denmark (and I believe Iceland as well among others). SpamFilter is not involved in this, she may have found this forum searching the internet.

I am an attorney who yesterday filed a class action against Verizon for this very problem.  Anyone interested in further information may feel free to contact me at mboni@kohnswift.com.
