come on, buy it. If you are running a business behind it, then there is
no excuse. $600 is worth having the support and the lastest version.
You know, if you are running a business email system behind it, then really, you should consider your postition, after all I would not like my boss to reliase that the gateway to the email system reliant on the good will of the developer of the software, because I didn't pay for it. It easy to make a business case for it, just use the stats from the trail and say that it has reduced the help required to fix spam related problems. Make sure she/he knows that now you have asked him/her to get the support for this by buying it. Even if he/she doesn't go for it, you are now in a better postition, by just having emailed the request (got it in writing, you see). for more hints read BOFH. You know, maybe Roberto could put up some sample business cases for the software, if you are having trouble get the purchase authorised. Or some of us could help out, with the ones we used. Anyone? |

Sorry, that version is only available to registered users. The new
SURBL filter featured in the latest 2.5.2 versions is working wonders,
above expectations and will in the future be released in a free build
to test. But as we have just released the free 2.5, it will be
sometimes before we release a new free build.

I don't have trouble getting the money, but I would like to test it before I even ask for the money.

Chinabee,
Usually most applications offer 30-day trials. Our records show that you've been "testing" it since August 2004... We make available the full-featured SpamFilter to all users, for unlimited use in a test scenario so they can evaluate it and not worry about expirations and/or limitations. As there will always be users who (partly maybe because SpamFilter works so well they forget it's there...) will use it in their live environment, we do not release the "free" version as often as we do the registered version. This is our way to offer a "reminder" to license their copy if it's being used in a production, live site. Sometimes the free release is a few months and several bugs away from the latest version available to licensed users. This is the case with the latest build 2.5.2. Edited by LogSat |

I was going from the date you joined the forum Feb 2005. I wouldn't
have said anything otherwise. It perfectly right that you should test
it, 'along side' any exsisting infrastructure.
In otherwords are you reliant on it as part of your main email system, which is "yes". If you are testing it as a backup MX, which is how I tested it, that is fair enough because your primary MX is running on the usual system (and getting the spam too) and the "trail" has no impact on your general running of the email system. If you are using it as a live system.... Actually, I am intrested in how people did their own testing of spamfilter when they trailed it. Mine was quite complex, in order to avoid any impact, I ran it as a second MX, (because all MX get spam not just the primary), to test geniune emails I had to setup an addional 'test' domain with the primary MX (sftest.mydomain.com) as the spamfilter and then muck about a bit with configs so email sent to that domain ended up at my email box. When I was happy it was easy to switch over. Nowdays I don't really test new releases of spamfitler, as the releases tend to be stable. I just hope it doesn't come back to bite me. |
