I have set my SpamFilter to reject e-mails without "From-Name". However, I just got the following e-mail that made it through the SPAMFilter. The domain of the sender is not in any of my white-lists, thus, the e-mail should have been rejected. Even if the e-mail details shows a "From" e-mail address my Outlook does not show a From address. I assume it has something to do with the 2 "" in front of the From e-mail address. Is this something the "Reject if empty mail from" should have captured? Gerd, The "Reject if empty MAIL FROM" option looks for an empty address in the "MAIL FROM" command, not the "from" header in the email The addresses you see in the Outlook client are the email headers the sender adds in the body of the email. In the email smtp conversation below, note that the MAIL FROM and RCPT TO command have roberto4@logsat.com and roberto5@logsat.com. In the email headers however, I specified roberto4444@logsat.com and roberto5555@logsat.com. Your Outlook client will ignore the original roberto4@logsat.com (the original MAIL FROM) and the original roberto5@logsat.com (the real recipient, where the email will be delivered to). It will instead display the "fake" ones: roberto4444@logsat.com for the "from" field and roberto5555@logsat.com for the "to" field. Hope all this helps, Roberto >>220 Welcome to LogSat's Software SMTP Server v1.1.2.122 >>250 Hello CMCTRF1 <<RSET >>250 Ok <<MAIL FROM:roberto4@logsat.com >>250 roberto4@logsat.com Address Okay <<RCPT TO:roberto5@logsat.com >>250 roberto5@logsat.com Address Okay <<DATA >>354 Start mail input; end with <CRLF>.<CRLF> <<From: roberto4444@logsat.com <<To: roberto5555@logsat.com <<Subject: Test <<Date: Wed, 14 Aug 2002 21:08:37 -0400 <<Content-Type: text/html;charset="ISO-8859-1"; <<X-Priority: 3 << <<This is a test <<. >>250 Ok <<QUIT |
