hello, I'm trying version 2.7.1.511 on my mail server, however, I found many empty connection and droped by SpamFilter with unknow reason. even I have use the quarantine DB, I found that I missed many email (including Spam I got everday), I had tried to use "Telnet" command to connect to the server but fail, is there any solution? or just a bug in 2.7.1.511? I have also use the web interface, and I found that the html function is not working for viewing emails since there is no such file contains in the Zip file I download from Logsat.com, is this feature removed? scorpio, sorry to ask the obvious, but did you follow all of the steps to set up your quarantine database? Did you follow steps 1-3 in the Settings->Quarantine DB tab? If so, did you get a success or error message?
Apart from that, go to the Settings->Configuration tab and make sure that you do not have any "tag spam..." check-boxes on... they will forward spam to the users and bypass the quarantine. As for viewing emails as html, you're right, that file isn't in there. My guess for the reason why is that it's a bit complicated: Robert would need to write function that would properly parse the various mime sections of the message, and display the html. On top of this, embeded or linked images, javascript, and stylesheets from the message within your users' browsers poses a security risk - and it can inadvertantly notify the spammer that the message was successfully delivered. For those reasons, it may be up to you in order to script a page to display html email as you see fit. |

Scorpio,
While we're not 100% sure what you mean by "empty connection and droped", please note that often mail servers will be hit by lots and lots of "probes" by other servers. These probes will just connect and disconnect to mail servers (SpamFilter in your case), sometimes attempting to send some SMTP commands. This is normal, and will show up as connections followed by disconnects right away in SpamFilter. If you try to telnet into tehe SMTP port 25 (or whatever other port you configured for SpamFilter) but are unable to make a connection, please ensure you configured the right port in SpamFilter, and are using the correct IP when issuing the telnet command (ex. telnet 127.0.0.1 25). We did find however indeed find a problem with our website related to the web interface. The download lonk was pointing to an older version of the web interface. We've just corrected it, and the html functionality example is working correctly now. We apologize for the problem. |

sgeorge, Thank you very much for your reply. I'm quit sure that I have correctly configured the Quarantine DB and it can collect Spam data for me. (and I can create the login for web interface, but I just cannot get the password via email and I just use access to open the .mdb file to get it back) Roberto, Thank you for your reply too. um..I've make sure that I have configured on the router for incoming port 25 forward to that machine's port 25 for SpamFilter, and my mail server is installed on the same machine listening port 26 for the incoming email (forwarded by SpamFilter). I can receive some email, but I just cannot connect to the server via telnet command though internet (I can use telnet to connect when I'm using local machine or another machine in the same network). Do you have any idea? or it is okay even I cannot connect by telnet? Thank you for the update, I'll have a try on the web interface.
