i'm using the software as a tag and deliver type filter. the question i have is when I had it setup to quarantine, if I checked the "do not quarantine" checkbox on a filter it simply deleted the mailpiece. Now that I'm marking and forwarding, that check box doesn't seem to affect anything. It would stand to reason (considering my simple mind) that if do not quarantine deleted the mail when using a quarantine database, that the tagging mode would also delete the mail if the "do not quarantine" box was checked. Am I missing something or is this possibly a feature request. With my clients, i've received way too much grief about quarantine issues, that I have to forward the mail with it tagged, but I would like to be able to drop some obvious mail before it comes in, like no reverse DNS, same domain, etc. Is there not a way to do this? Part of what started this post is that I went from a quarantine to a tag and deliver method of protecting my clients. In doing so I put it on a different server as I would need less resources to filter if I was not using a DB to quarantine. In doing so I have a fresh install of the software and I cannot get my custom domain filters to work. I've added LocalDomainsFilterMatrixFileName=C:\Program Files\SpamFilter\AllowedDomainFilterMatrix.txt but I still cannot see the domains listed so I can uncheck the filters. I think either having the "do not quarantine" drop if it is a tag and deliver server, or allowing me to customize the filters used per domain would both serve the same purpose. |

If you select the option to "tag and deliver", the spam emails are actually being delivered. Since they are being delivered, and they are not being blocked, SpamFilter will not quarantine them, regardless of the "do not quarantine" settings. |

From using the quarantine database, when i check the "do not quarantine", it deletes the mail instead of holding a blocked mail piece in the quarantine. My thought it, why doesn't the "do not quarantine" delete the mail as well when it is set to "tag and deliver". It doesn't appear to be designed that way, yet it would seem to reason that if it would delete when the quarantine is active, it would delete when the quarantine isn't being used. |

If the email is delivered (which is what "tag and deliver" does...) there is nothing to delete... the email has been delivered, so essentially it is not stored by SpamFilter in any way. It's received and then forwarded to your mail server.

I always thought this option was for those who do their own filtering (not using quaratine db) at the mailbox level and use the x-header info from SF to determine if it should be stuck into a spam folder so their customers can see if they want anything or delete it if not.
