557 error blocking most email now |

2 Days ago we started hearing from a lot of clients that they were not receiving their email, upon further investigation we noticed a lot of messages were being returned to the sender with the following error: 557 your email has been rejected because it contains keywords rejected by the antispam filter.
Upon rebooting our spamfilter server email started flowing again as usual. After a few hours it started happening again. I've tried loosening up the filter settings without result. I even upgraded to the latest release 3.5.4.718 ISP edition but it's still happening today. It will run fine for a few hours and then starts blocking most emails (most are being quarantined) and we are getting a lot of clients calling us with this problem.
Does anyone know of one of the blacklists that might be having trouble and should be removed from the MAPS Servers?
Any help will be appreciated. Thanks.

The most common cause for that rejection are either the entries in the Keyword blacklist or a match by the bayesian filter.
If you can zip and email us the section of SpamFilter's logfile for the time around one of such emails (or the entire logfile, along with a list of to/from email addresses for emails in question for that day), we'll be glad to take a look. |
