I'm seeing files build up in the queue folder over time. Not many, but about 20-25 over a 30 day period. Doesn't seem to matter what the destination domain is. Is this normal? We probably process thousands of emails each day. All files have a complete ~tmp file, including the terminating "." at the bottom.
I'm tempted to write a cleanup routine that deletes them if they're over 21 days old, but just thought I'd check here first to make sure this is "normal" behavior.

Do you have antivirus software running on the server scanning files in realtime? If so, SpamFilter spools to disk some email's file attachments while processing messages. If the attachment is infected and your AV deletes the file, SpamFilter is usually smart enough to understand that if a file is missing, it's probably because an AV deleted it. If so, SpamFilter will ignore the email and will try to cleanup any temp files left behind. It's possible that not all of them get cleaned up.
In any case, it is safe to delete any .tmp files present in that folder. |
