I am finding that for quite a few messages the connection to the DNS server is timing out. Sometimes the lack of a reverse DNS check results in spam messages being forwarded rather than quarantined. With message I am looking at right now, it appears that the timeout interval is 10 seconds. Is there any way I can increase this timeout interval?

Yes, you can modify it by changing this parameter in the SpamFilter.ini file:
;The timeout in milliseconds for all DNS-related queries. DNSTimeout=5000 I would not recommend increasing it though, as if the DNS queries that SpamFilter makes (there can be dozens per email) take a long time to complete, the inbound mail queue can grow a lot while the inbound connections are "placed on hold" while the DNS queries complete. |
