Let me see if I understand the white list. Let's assume that I have a domain name 'xyz.com' in my white list. If a spammer puts 'abc@xyz.com' as his FROM and sends this email to me, the Spam Filter will allow it to go through, right?

Yes, that is correct. Roberto F. |

Then what's the point to have this function? Anybody can fake it. For example, I could just use 'abc@microsoft.com' as my return email address, and your SpamFilter would not catch it if I have microsoft.com in my white list. Who doesn't? |

The advantage of having a domain whitelist is so you can allow emails from a domain that keeps appearing in an RBL. A spammer can't take advantage of this unless they know what your domain whitelist looks like. Obviously, you'd want to keep this list to a minimum. Instead of complaining about it, don't use it. Just because you don't understand a particular feature does not mean it is not useful. LogSat implements most of its users' suggestions and is one of the most responsive vendors I have ever worked with. Bill |

I sort of figure out how to use this feature. It's best to use it in combination of 'Reject if no reverse DNS'. I happen to have lots customers not having any reverse DNS. It's a good idea to add them into white list, but leave those who have reverse DNS out of the list. This way I can minimize my list. |

You've just found one of the main uses of the whitelists. If you need to receive emails from a particular domain that for some reason is blocked, the whitelists will help you with that. Roberto F. |
