Please use this thread to report any bugs for SpamFilter Enterprise Beta v3.5.0.621.
We may not be able to reply to all of them, but we'll monitor this thread so we can address all of them. Thank you for testing this beta! |

This may be more of a question than a bug report...
Today I was going to show a guy in the office the new SpamFilter system. How the features are now broken down on a per domain level. I clicked the Filter Setting button, the menu comes up and there were NO domains configured. I had put 10 domains in there, but it was coming up blank (even ALL DOMAINS was missing). All buttons were grey, I could not add a new one. I then noticed in the activity log the message about the mySQL server had gone away. I get this error all the time in our production environment, I just assumed it was a network issue because the mySQL server is accessed over the Internet. In this case, on the development server the mySQL server is installed on the same machine, so it should not have gone anywhere. So does this screen work strictly off the database? It would appear so. |

Correct.
Incoming emails are processed based on the settings in the file-based files, so that if the databse is down (as was your case), operations are not affected. However the configuration side of the house does occur in the database. If it's down, the settings will not be available, so the GUI will have issues if the DB is not there. |

caratking, another thing to confirm is the version of your MySQL. I believe Enterprise requires MySQL version 5 whereas the previous "quarantine only" database is happy on a MySQL 4 server. Roberto can confirm this however I think this could be the same brick wall I have hit, finding time to nut out why my MySQL servers wont update to version 5 is preventing me from getting stuck into SFE. Yes, I confirm. Unfortunately MySQL 4 does not have support for triggers, which are essential in SFE.

Yep, I was aware that 5.0 was required. It was a new install, so I did not have any upgrade issues for mysql.

Ok, I think I got one!
Amazing there are no real issues with this first beta, impressive. Anyway here is a problem I'm having. Black lists, for each domain. It is reporting 0 hits for all countries (for all domains), when this obviously can't be right - even if I have had only one email for a given domain. The other thing is, in the standard edition you can click on the country, hits, description to sort the field. This is useful when seeing which countries send the most email and if you want to find a specific country to ban etc. Hmmm... I just noticed another thing. I can't even enable country filtering even if I want to. I check the country, and click save settings but nothing takes. If I leave the specified domain and come back all countries are blank. I think I have one too... The Surbl lookups (and blocking) were working fine in until I configured the quarantine in MySQL. The domain is still configured for multi.surbl.org and this is the error in the activity log. Exception occurred during DoSURBLCheck: Access violation at address 005BC2A3 in module 'SpamFilterSvc.exe'. Read of address 2E3A13DE

Andy,
I started getting that error message today as well. It was working, so I assumed that something was probably wrong with the communication from my test server to the lookup server it was trying to use.

Found another interesting little issue.
When inserting keywords (into MySQL). Something like the following: \/iaagra will end up becomming /iaagra |

Another error I just noticed in the logs...
I should add, that apart from a few little flaws it's a darn good product. In this test domain I'm catching most of the junk and starting to get excited that this might be a real winner as it has enough performance and configuration choices to suit a whole host of customer domains. THANKS! |

Another possible issue I am seeing.
I have the following in the ini file: AutoWhiteListForceDeliveryEnabled=1 However, when clicking Deliver Selected button in the Quarantine area the message will get delivered but it does not whitelist the sender of the message as the next day I see email from the same sender (google news alerts in this case) being blocked. |

Not sure if this is related, but this is in the log after I release a message:
11/19/06 08:54:52:187 -- (5236) Adding to C:\Program Files\SpamFilter\domains\email.ca\AutoWhiteListForceDelivery .txt:gun@cableco.ca|nahomi@email.ca 11/19/06 08:54:52:187 -- (5236) Delivering quarantined email from <rsgunther@cableco.ca> to nahomi@email.ca 11/19/06 08:54:52:328 -- Exception occurred during PrepareQuarantineGrid: Operation cannot be performed while executing asynchronously |

It has been a while, so I thought I would share another bug.
I setup a test box, and was running mysql 5.x on Windows. The scripts to setup the database still needed some work, but with some manual work I got things going OK. Today I decided to move mysql over to a centos linux install (because I don't want to run it on windows). I did a backup and restore of the database, right away Spam Filter starts giving errors: Exception occurred during ChecktblReloadTableInfo: [MySQL][ODBC 3.51 Driver][mysqld-5.0.22]Table 'sf.tblReloadTableInfo' doesn't exist This is a simple error of case. Windows does not care about the case, and linux does. The database tables are all in lower case however the code is calling them in upper case.... Guess I gotta stick with Windows until at least the next beta :-( |
