Roberto,

Since yesterday after upgrading to 3.5.4.703 the matching of the email addresses in the AuthorizedRecipients.txt is case sensitive.

We had mails being rejected for example for atif@domain.com/ATIF@domain.com  when the email address in the AuthorizedRecipients.txt was listed with caps (Atif@domain.com).

We have updated our scripts to lowercase everything before generating the file.

Will we have to do the same with SFE or would the SFE take care of this?

best regards

Atif

Atif,

I'm sorry, we're not able to replicate this. SpamFilter should convert all lists and email addresses to lowercase before matching them. We tried to enter a mixed cases addresses in the AuthorizedTO list using SpamFilter's GUI and by adding them directly to the AuthorizedRecipients.txt. We then sent emails that had different uppercase/lowercase combinations. In all cases, the emails were processed fine.

It is in theory possible that, if during the process that loads the whitelist from the file into SpamFilter there is an "exception" error like an Access Violation, this could prevent the list to be converted into lower case. We've never seen this happening during the years, but, as we know, with computers anything is possible. To verify, could you please look in SpamFilter's activity logfile for entries containing the bolded text below, like the following:

08/07/07 16:01:56:968 -- (10972) Reloading file for tblWL_AuthorizedTOEmails: domains\SFI\WL_AuthorizedTOEmails.txt

and see if "nearby" that line, there is another one with the same thread ID (10972 in the sample above) that may contain an error?
