We face a problem quit suddenly, obvious not connected to anything new configuration etc.:

Current Inbound Connections raise very quickly in numbers until it reach the max (set to 250). When max is reached the filter stops, no mails are then forwarded to mailserver.
Normally we face a number of inbound connections like 4-10.
We are running ver. 4.0.0.772

Can this problem be releated to a Quarantine Database problem?
We run MySQL database.
The database is active, but nothing is displayed in Quarantine List. It used to work, but now not.

OS: Windows 2000
Mailserver: Ipswitch Imail ver. 8.22
Number of domains: 120

Hopefully somebody can help as the spamfilter keeps hanging and no mails is delivered.

Thanks!

Asger,

The first recommendation is to upgrade to the latest build of SpamFilter to see if that solves the problem.

That said, if there is an issue with the database, SpamFilter may be delaying the processing of emails while waiting for database timeouts. Using the MySQL Administrator tools, try using the "Check Table" diagnostics on the tblQuarantine and tblMsgs to ensure they are not corrupted. You may want to disable temprarily the quarantine capability in SpamFilter while doing so by going to the "Database" tab in SpamFilter and set to "0" the number of days to archive emails. This will disable the archival of new emails (while still retaining the ones already in the database). If there are issues with the database, this may help as SpamFilter does not have to wait for database timeouts while receiving emails.

If you can also zip and email us SpamFilter's activity logfile for today, we'll try to see if there's anything wrong. If the file size if over 5MB, we'll PM the info for our ftp site to upload the logs there.

Roberto,
Thanks for reply.
I tried upload two Activity Logfiles to you ftp.
named:
1. 20080531-asger
2. 20080601-asger
I still can´t get access - the files are now sent to you by e-mail.
I searched the log file for"too many connections" - as I think this indicates the time for the error. I discovered the error at 12:30, but it seems as if the error came before, at 02:13 - but not sure about that.
The next day 20080601, we stopped the Quarantine DB at 00:12:02, by removing the connection string in Settings > tab: Database Setup, showing then: The Quarantine DB is not active.
After this Spamfilter seems to be working OK, but without Quarantine DB - can you, by examening the logfiles, confirm that?

The above actions leads to the conclusion that we have a Database issue, isn´t it right? Thanks a lot for your help!

Regards
Asger
