Hello Roberto et all,
Am facing a issue with a backscatter emails to many of my domain names. SpamFilter ISP does not detect any spam in the email content and emails slip through to the respective email boxes. I need to get rid of these. Please help !! Susheel |

Are you using the "authorized to" email list? This will prevent mail to nonexistent addresses getting to your mail server.

By default, spamfilter will accept and relay "good" mail for all domains that are setup.
It will accept mail for XYZ@domain.com even if that address does not exist on the destination mail server.
Go to: Settings - Configuration - Black/White Lists - White Lists - Authorized To Emails
This is a list of "valid email addresses". Mail to addresses not in this list (if you have it turned on) will automatically be deemed spam. This will help to prevent your backscatter problem.

hi jerbo,
I have so many domain names facing backstatter problems. Do i need to add all of the email addresses belonging to them? Also if i add email addresses out there will it mean emails addressed to other domain names apart from the listed ones will be rejected? Please clarify.. thanks in advance. Susheel |

Yes - It is an "all or none". If you are going to use the list for 1 domain, you must use it for all. You CAN use wildcards for domains that you wish - *@mydomain.com
I use this list myself, and it is VERY helpful. I have our web interface setup so that "end user administrators" can add and removed the authorized addresses any time they add an account to their mailserver.
