Is there any resolution in sight for the lack of a GUI when running in 2008?

I moved the spamfilter from an old 2000 box that I had to RDP into to manage...and did not have a GUI because of the RDP issue.

So...I upgraded everything to 2008...and damn if I don't have exactly the same problem.

Can we get this resolved??? or at least a usable work around?

We are working on a completely new redesign of SpamFilter's GUI that will likely be accessible via the web to address the issues with Windows 2008. In the meantime, if you RDP into the 2008 Server, you should see on the screen a "Interactive Services dialog detection" popup box. If you click on the "View the message" area, that will display the new isolated "services" console which displays the services' GUIs. SpamFilter's will be there. (Please ensure that you have the "Interactive Services Detection" service enabled and started in Windows).

Note that if you close SpamFilter's service window using the "X" in the upper right corner of the window, this will prevent the "Interactive Services dialog detection" dialog from appearing ever again, and thus there appears to be no way of displaying the GUI (SpamFilter will still run in the background). To bring it back you can either stop/restart SpamFilter, or, more simply, just restart the "Interactive Services Detection" Windows' service. As soon as this service is restarted (doing so has no impact on anything else), you will be again prompted to display SpamFilter's GUI again.

I had a dedicated server with Windows 2008 for 2 years (lease duration).  I could not wait for the least to be over - they could no longer sell Windows 2003 at the time we got it.

After our 2 year lease we built our own box and co-located so we could run Windows 2003.

Spamfilter just was a PITA on 2008, with 2003 it is like a dream.

Roberto...

I appreciate the work-around but... this is still a major pain.  Do you have any idea of a timeframe on this?

PLEASE!!!!! Unhappy

We're estimating an early beta sometime after the summer, but nothing is for certain yet.
