When Spamfilter recieves a mail -- perhaps a large mail with attchments, where is this stuff kept before sending to the real SMTP server? Is there a temporary directory that is used, surely all this stuff is not kept in memory before being sent to the SMTP server? I need to know this to get it to work properly with a new security package that we're installing. Thanks.

The email msg and its recipients are temporarily saved to the /SpamFilter/queue directory. The temp files are deleted only when the destination server has accepted the email. Roberto F. |

There are (rare) occassions when spamfilter accepts e-mail but nothing is forwarded to our SMTP server and nothing is to be found in the queue directory either?

Can you please provide more details? For ex. how exactly did you see SpamFilter accepting the email, and hwo did you determine that the SMTP server did not receive it? Note that sometimes smtp servers can reject email because of spelling errors on the addresses, attachment size limitations, mailboxes full, etc. Any log samples will help. Roberto Franceschetti |
