What does this mean? One of my customers' email is caught with this "Invalid sender domain MX record" problem.

OK, I know it says the MX record for the sender's domain does not exist, but i guess my question is, if the MX record is missing, does that mean this is a spam email?

Benny, Follow the following threads. BUT ... Read all the posts as there has been quite a lot of discussion: http://www.logsat.com/spamfilter/forums/showmessage.asp?messageID=4597 Dan Seligmann |

Benny,The MX record filter checks to see if the email domain of the sender's email address has a valid MX record assigned to it. If it's missing or is invalid, then SpamFilter will reject the email. While having an MX record is not strictly required, it is a good practice for administrators to configure one for the email domains they use. As Dan S. suggested, please see the link he provided for a full discussion. Roberto F.

It is the Mail eXcahnger record(s) in the DNS. It tells an SMTP server to which address it needs to send emails addressed for a domain.
Please see RFC 2821 for more details. |
