I came in this morning on 7/1 and found the log filled with this type of error this morning. 07/01/03 00:02:05:250 -- Exception occurred during ProcessQuarantineQueue: Catastrophic failure Email was not moving and SpamFilter was not working, even after stopping and restarting service. Ended up having to reboot the server to get things working again. Any idea what caused this problem? Leftover code from the beta 7/1 expiration? Seem to be having more trouble with this latest release that all the previous versions combined. |

Alan, Can you please let us know which database you are using, which version of SpamFIlter you are using, and email us a copy of the logfile containing those errors? Roberto Franceschetti |

I have installed the latest version and I cannot connect to either MySQL 4 or 5. The filter is on a 2003 server. This is the first time I have ever received this error. There are no logs to send. I cannot get any to get genarated in Windows.
Test Connection failed because of an error initializing provider. Catastrophic failure |

I am also experiencing this error. The ODBC connection tests out just fine, but SF doesn't connect to the quarantine database. Any ideas? |

Aaron,
Can you please provide more details? For ex., the database platform used, what the "ODBC connection tests" are, what errors are given by SpamFilter, etc. |

I have the same error.
I followed the instructions from this thread I created a data source in the ODBC Data Source Administration (Administrative Tools). I tried to create a User DSN or a System DSN with the same result. The connection test from that Configuration window is fine. Then I modified the SpamFilterMySQL.udl file with my datasource and my login/password combination (allowing to save the password). I can select the initial catalog (my "spamfilter" db) in the dropdown. But there, when I click on the Test button, I get this "Test Connection failed because of an error initializing provider. Catastrophic failure" message. If I select that file in the Spam Filter Quarantine Log config and click the Test button from Step 1, I get this error : "Error connecting to database - Catastrophic failure". OK, I found the solution thank to this post:
http://www.issociate.de/board/post/194378/ Catastrphic_failure_in_Delphi_with_new_ODBC_Connector.html So the "secret" is to leave the initial catalog field blank when editing the SpamFilterMySQL.udl file. After that the connection test from the UDL file edition screen works and the output from all three steps in Spam Filter's Quarantine DB UI is basically "success". |
