Please do not flame me for posting a NON-spamfilter question, but I am at my wits end with Microsoft... I have a user that wears many hats and she has about 5 internet SMTP addresses assigned to her account in exchange. for example she has: name@mycompany.com and jobapplications@mycompany.com and news@mycompany.com, etc... I do not want to create a seperate user account to accomplish this either: All I want to do is create a rule in her outlook XP to move anything sent to jobapplications@mycompany.com to a folder called applications. Sounds simple enough right? Just a simple rule should do. but NOT with Outlook XP, what happens is that outlook changes any reference to jobapplication@mycompany.com to name@mycompany.com which is her primary (return) SMTP address, this is frustrating! It appears that there is no way to do a rule based on the incomming SMTP address since it is translated to the "primary" account before rule processing. I have tried microsofts newsgroups etc. to no avail. I refuse to pay Microsoft for support on something that should not be an issue in the first place... Any advise would be greatly appreciated! thanks! I am sure somebody else out there had to run into this... P.s. .192 beta is working great for me!

First off, create her additional email addresses as seperate "Hidden" Distribution list, Hide them, so they dont appear in the global Address Book. Give the Distribution list the correct email address (ex. jobapplication@mycompany.com), then add her to all distribution list you create, be sure to remove here additional addresses first, leaving the default name@mycompany.com as here address. Now creat the rules using the Distribution list's email address. Let me know if you have any problems, hope it helps! |
