I have set my Max Recipients in a single session to allow 2. When I start the spam filter, it works great for a few minutes (5-10) and then completely ignores the rule. Is this a bug in the program? I am using ver.1.2.0.206

Thanks,

Rick

Rick,

The Max Recipients works to limit the number of "RCPT TO" commands sent to SpamFilter. This is what determines to how many users the email is actually sent. Please note that this is not the same as the "To:" or "CC:" headers inside an email. The latter is just an header in the email that causes the email clients to display other theoretical recipients. The "To:" header does not indicate to whom the email is actually sent to.

This said, can you please confirm that the problem is actually happening in allowing multiple RCPT TO commands? Please also remember that you should not test this by sending emails from the server SpamFilter is installed on as it is allowed by default to bypass all rules.

Here is a log of a test that I did. Sent from hotmail to the Stormnet domain.

It was able to see my rcpt rule, but still sent the email. Most of the time, however, it does not even notice that the email "Exceeded maximum number of RCPT TO".

Rick,

I apologize, we were able to reproduce the issue. The Max Recipient filter is not actually disconnecting the connection as it should. We'll have that fixed as soon as possible.
