I am evaluating SPAMFilter for use at our company. We are currently using ArgoSoft Mailserver Plus as an e-mail server. The server is on a Win2000 machine. Here are our problems : 1. Since installing SPAMFilter (the highest available version for trial use), Argosoft will stop it's service at least once every 24 hours. I have to either reboot the machine or click on the start button in Argosoft. Until I do such, messages just build up in SPAMFilter's queue. 2. Argosoft also has a webmail interface for users who do not wish to use programs like Outlook to check their mail. For some strange reason, when SPAMFilter is running, our NetGear router has a problem forwarding both ports 110 and 80. At first I thought something was wrong with our router, but when SPAMFilter is not running, everything works fine. This is exactly what happens : If our users are able to access http://mail.ourserver.com for webmail access, then users will not be able to make a connection to the POP3 server (mail.ourserver.com). They receive an error stating that a server is not found. If I go into the router and remove the POP3 port and re-add it, then it will work, but users will not be able to connect to the webmail interface. If I then remove and add the HTTP port, then the POP3 connection is no longer available. If I turn the SPAMFilter off, then both ports work at the same time. I have both SPAMFilter and Argosoft on the same machine. Argosoft listens on ports 26, 110, and 80 when SPAMFilter is running. SPAMFilter is listening on port 25 and forwards to port 26, same IP. When I turn SPAMFilter off, I have to set Argosoft to listen on port 25 instead of 26. What can I do to resolve both problems? I was going to try the Beta, but will it fix both of these problems? Until we can get SPAMFilter to work correctly, I don't think we'll be making a purchase. Please help, because it does work great when it's working! BTW, we are a very cheap company and more hardware is not an option. Thanks, |

The first Problem With the stoping of the mail server may be due to a Memory leak. Check your MDAC version and upgrade if need. we are using MDAC 2.8 with no problem, but had the same problem with our mail server with an older version of MDAC. When installing some applications (Crystal Reports was our cause) it will down rev the MDAC.
