What the hell is this? "Current customers who purchased SpamFilter ISP 1.x before 9/1/2003 can upgrade to the new SpamFilter ISP 2.0.1.302 for special upgrade price of $200. Somone please explain what this is about? Our company paid for Spamfilter back on 5/1/2003 for a FULLY WORKING copy of this software. The current version i have (1.2.206) is not FULLY WORKING and has bugs. Does this now mean that in order to have the bugs fixed to my copy, i have to pay 200 more dollers? Im pretty dissappointed. 1 No where on this site did it say when i purchased this product that i would be paying 'Upgrade fees' 2 Nowhere on this website did it say anything about forcing us to pay more money for the product, other then AFTER you log in to get the new product! I really like spamfilter and would like to continue to use it for my company, however i hardly think its fair to have to constantly pay for this product over and over for bug fixes. |

Kevin, The build 1.2.0.206 you are using does have bugs, which is why back in January 26 we released build 1.2.0.212. Having purchased v1.x of SpamFilter you could and still can access your registered download area to download the latest 1.2.0.212 build. It is fully functional, thousands of users are running it without problems. It has no problems that we know of, and you can continue to use it freely as long as you wish. If however you want to use the new features available in the new v2.0 version, you will need to upgrade. We have offered free upgrades for all users who purchased v1.x of SpamFilter as long as the releases where in the v1.x range. Upgrades from v1.0starting in Aug. 2002 to v1.1 to v1.2 have always been free. A year and a half after our initial release we changed our version from v1 to v2. It is absolutely normal to charge discounted upgrade fees, you will see that in most software packages. A website that sells a current product and that mentions that future releases will be charged for is an exception, not the norm. To anyone who asked us what the upgrade policy was, we've always responded that upgrades were free as long as the version remained in the v1.x range. To make things simpler we have introduced yearly software maintenance contracts. The purchase price of v2.x will include 1 year of free upgrades. Additional years can be purchased for $120. ON the "Purchase" link of the website, without needing to login, you will see mention of the upgrade policy and software maintenance. Since the amount of the upgrade discount depends on the original purchase date, we need to have users enter their order number to find out more. Roberto F.
