I'm running version 1.1.2.117, and the custom disconnect messages are not working. The reason in the bounce message says "The server does not accept mail."

This is what's currently set in as the custom response for being blacklisted by MAPS...521 The IP %IP% is Blacklisted by %MAPSResponse%.

I recently removed Spamfilter, then installed 1.1.2.117. The previous version did not seem to work for me also.

This is what my Spamfilter.ini file looks like for that section...

[Error Response]
ResponseBlacklistedMAPS=521 The IP %IP% is Blacklisted by %MAPSResponse%.
ResponseBlacklistLocalIP=521 The IP %IP% is Blacklisted.
ResponseBlacklistLocalDomain=521 The domain %Domain% is Blacklisted.
ResponseBlacklistLocalEMail=521 The EMail %EMailFrom% is Blacklisted.
ResponseBlacklistLocalEMailTo=521 The EMail %EMailTo% is Blacklisted.
ResponseNoReverseDNS=557 Your IP %IP% does not have a reverse DNS entry. Disconnecting...
ResponseMaxRCPTTO=557 You exceeded then maximum number of RCPT TO. Disconnecting...
ResponseCountryBlacklist=557 Your IP address is from a blacklisted country. Disconnecting..
ResponseRelayRestricted=557 You are not allowed to send mail to %EMailTo%
ResponseKeywordMatch=557 This email is rejected. It contains keywords rejected by the antispam content filter.

Paul,

Most servers we see, when the send the "non-deliverable" noice to the sender, will include SpamFilter's error code and description. We have seen a fe instances where some servers will simply report a generic "error delivering email" to the sender. Unfortunately there is currently not much we can do. SpamFilter does not send an email back to the sender saying that their email was rejected. SpamFilter simply rejects the email from the sender's smtp server by outputting an error code with the error description. Per RFC, it is then responsability of the sender's smtp server to the notify their user of the error.

If this is a problem for you, you can greatly reduce this by disabling quarantine. When quarantine is disabled, the connection is dropped before the remote server is able to send the body of the email. Procucing an error before that happens, after the "RCPT TO" command, is much more likely going to cause the remote server to send back the user SpamFilter's error message.

I'm not quarantining messages. I turned that off a while ago.

Could it be somthing with my firewall stripping off header information? Have you heard of something like that happening before to other people?

I doubt it could be a firewall issue, that would be a first. If you have a keyword filter activated, and let us know what keywords to use so that the email is rejected, we can try sending you test emails from our end to make sure everything looks good to the outside. You can email us at support@logsat.com if you do not want to post that info on the forum.
