here is the scenario I'm having trouble configuring properly.

Let's say I have 300 domains.  I need to notify each customer how to access the user quarantine web interface and to make sure they even want to have filtered mail.

I don't want to change all domains right off the bat.  However, I want to configure the mail server to only accept mail from the spam filter server now and route all incoming messages through the spam filter server.

so, ultimately as I contact each customer I need to have a filtered domain list and an unfiltered list.  Then as I contact each customer I move the domain from one list to another.

any help would be appreciated.  Thanks.

Try these steps:

  1. Ensure that *ALL* of your domains -- including the "filtered" AND the "unfiltered" ones -- are listed in the Local Domains list.  This is a base requirement for SpamFilter.  If the domain isn't listed here, SpamFilter won't relay mail to your mail server, period.
  2. Now, for all of the domains you want to be "unfiltered" for now, add them to the Unfiltered Emails list in the format of *@mydomain.com  (This is an email address list, so by using the * wildcard, you are indicating that all email addresses in this domain are to be unfiltered.)

When you are ready to enable filtering on a specific domain, simply remove that domain's record from the Unfiltered Emails list.

Hope this helps.
